Bucket List: Galapagos

As a child, I would stand in awe over images from the Galapagos Islands. My life’s dream was always to be a wildlife photographer, and from the age of 6 and beyond there were two destinations that fueled my desire for photography…. Africa, and the Galapagos Islands.

Thanks to Hotel Solymar Galapagos, one of my childhood obsessions recently came to life…and more vivid than any photograph or video could ever truly depict. Visit their website at http://www.hotelsolymar.com.ec/en/. In December we traveled to the enchanted Galapagos Islands, just 600 miles from the coast of Ecuador. Our mission…give Hotel Solymar Galapagos an updated library of photographs that showcases their crown jewel on the island of Santa Cruz. We were asked to deliver images of the hotel’s accommodations, food and surrounding attractions that make Hotel Solymar the premier destination for those looking to get a little closer to nature…without having to leave behind the modern comforts that we are all guilty of growing used to.In addition to showcasing their establishment, we were also tasked with showing some of the amazing sights and activities the island of Santa Cruz had to offer. This included trips out on the open sea searching for sharks.A trip to the highlands brought us face to face with real, live dinosaurs. Well, ok maybe that is a stretch… but these guys could easily have been running around with dinosaurs back in the early ages. Just one look at a Galapagos Tortoise, in its rich and green highland environment, and it’s easy to forget which millennium you have stumbled into.We also provided Hotel Solymar Galapagos with a promotional video designed to bring our photos from the trip, and the hotel, to life! Hit the Jackpot in Long Beach!

ROF had an absolute blast at Long Beach Gastroenterology Associates’ Casino Night Holiday Party! The atmosphere was incredible with colorful casino games, photo props, enticing food and a delicious coffee bar to keep the energy going!

The atmosphere proved to be amazing! I (Aaron) was in a low light situation, with moving objects such as playing cards, moving dice, a roulette wheel and craps table. I had to use flash, pay attention to my shutter speed and shoot on manual focus to achieve an artistic, stylish look. This truly brought out the textures in each image showing movement, facial expressions and of course, dancing!

Additionally, ROF provided a white backdrop and lights, combined with a fun photo booth style arrangement with props. This may have been the hit of the party! It is definitely something we look forward to offering at upcoming events. Having a photo booth style set up really got the guests into the party spirit.

We were extremely pleased with the results of this shoot and would like to credit the fun atmosphere created by Long Beach Gastro. We had an absolute blast and look forward to working with them again in the future. Their business is the largest and oldest gastroenterology practice in Long Beach! It is sometimes difficult getting military families all together in one place for a photo shoot, so when the opportunity presents itself make sure that the proper team is in place to capture great images! We had the pleasure of working with the McCray family during such an opportunity. They were an adorable family and we were honored to work with them!

2013 has been quite an eventful year here at ROF! From high kicking in New York with Fredrik Eklund to swimming with sharks in the Galapagos, all of our clients have been so much fun and we have made a lot of great friends this year. This collage shows just a few of the projects we’ve done throughout the year. We kept busy to say the least! We’d like to extend a special thank you to everyone who has supported us with this venture. We are excited to see what 2014 brings! We’re guessing exciting new projects, travel and an even bigger year!
